BIRD BOX was frightening in a way that kept me on the edge of my seat from page one to the end. MALORIE, on the other hand, didn’t have that same level of suspense, of creepiness.
This book masterfully incorporates biology and frightening body horror into Margot’s coming of age story. The twist hits you like a gut punch. Those last five or so chapters will haunt me for weeks to come, I’m sure.
I'm not usually one for anthologies, if I'm being completely honest. I enjoy short stories because I can blow through them and it makes me feel like a good reader, but I do find it hard to stay interested in a book full of them, with no connection from story to story.
